According to the latest report, Microsoft’s Pluton chip promises a lot of progress in keeping PC devices free from the latest security threats, but not every PC maker can fully embrace the technology. Dell now says it’s not quite ready to incorporate Pluton chips into “most” business PCs.
Laptop maker Dell said that “Pluton does not meet Dell’s hardware security program and the most secure business PC requirements.” what is the reason? This has to do with the fact that Intel didn’t support Pluton technology in the 12th Gen Core processors, opting instead for TPM technology.
Moreover, Dell’s business PCs primarily use this type of processor inside, and they also use Platform Trust technology to meet the FIPS 140-2 standard.

But not without hope. A separate statement from Dell indicated that the company will “continue to evaluate Pluton to see how it compares to existing TPM implementations in the future.”
Furthermore, this is built on Dell’s own software and hardware technology that can help defend against cyber attacks. Microsoft also provided this statement on the matter.
“Microsoft and our partners are giving customers the flexibility and choice to configure Pluton to meet their specific needs. Microsoft is committed to working with partners and customers in the coming months and years to continue to strengthen Pluton’s security .”
Dell isn’t alone in such decisions, though. Lenovo’s latest Intel-powered ThinkPad was released without Pluton support, but the AMD Ryzen-powered ThinkPad did, although it also had Pluton disabled by default.
At the same time, the ThinkPad X13s equipped with the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chip is equipped with the Microsoft Pluton security chip for the first time.
