How to select apps to use in Multi-Window view in Samsung Galaxy phones?

Most new Android phones from over a dozen different manufacturers now allow you to run apps in multi-screen mode, which lets you use and view them both at once. And it’s easy to activate the multi-screen mode.

However, that running apps in multi-screen mode can deplete your battery faster than running them normally. And not all apps can be run in multi-screen mode apps that require the full screen to function, like games.

The Android Multi Window function allows you to open and use two apps simultaneously by splitting the screen view. This function, also called split-screen, has been optimized under Android. Using a Samsung Galaxy smartphone as an example, we will explain how to easily call and use the Multi Window function.

How to select apps to use in Multi-Window view

  • Tap the Recents apps button.
  • Tap the respective app icon above the wanted app window.
  • Tap “Open in split-screen view”.
  • The app will attach to the top of the screen but won´t be ready to use.
  • Swipe left or right to find the second app you wish to open and tap it.
  • The second app will be displayed in the lower half of the screen and the first app in the upper half.
  • You can now use and work with both apps.

NOTE:

The blue area of the dividing line between the apps indicates whether the upper or lower app is currently selected.

  • If the blue line is above the grey line, the app in the upper half is selected.
  • If the blue line is below the grey line, the app in the lower half is selected.
  • If you press and hold the middle mark of the dividing line, you can move it up or down to change the size of the selected app.
