Intel will release processors, manufactured by TSMC in 2023

Intel declared a series of important information in the live broadcast, announced the development progress of 7nm process chips, and introduced in detail the Xe packaged with 47 small chips, HPC High-performance GPU.

Intel CEO Pat Kissinger stated that leading CPU products will be released in 2023, built by TSMC, and will give both civilian and server processors. However, Intel has not announced the process information of the new processor.

Intel also pointed out that the CPU found by TSMC will establish Intel’s leading position in the civilian market and data center market. Intel also stated that in 2023, most of its products will be produced using its own 7nm process technology.

And will release desktop CPUs code-named ‘Meteor Lake’ and ‘Granite Rapids’ server CPUs. Intel may release two sets of CPU product lines in 2023. TSMC and Samsung Electronics have started the research and development of 3nm process technology this year.

So it can be expected that Intel processors manufactured by TSMC in 2023 are expected to also use 3nm process technology. TSMC and Samsung’s 3nm process may regress the CPU frequency, but the improvement of the architecture is expected to offset this effect.

Nevertheless, the newer process will be more energy-efficient and cost-effective. Most of the processor products Intel ships are mid-to-low-end products, and the sales of flagship chips are very small. Foreign media said that although TSMC’s making capacity has always been tight, it still has the ability to build a few high-end chips for Intel.
