Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro’s screen may be supplied by Samsung

Since Apple’s iPhone has adopted OLED screens, it has almost always used screen panels from Samsung Display and LG Display, and it was not until recent years that BOE was introduced as a supplier of a single model.

Of course, the latest screens displayed by Samsung are also recognized as excellent in the industry, so it is not surprising that Apple has adopted Samsung screens in large numbers. However, it was previously reported that BOE will supply Apple with 6.1-inch panels in 2022, or for the iPhone 14 model, with a supply of about 50 million pieces, accounting for 20%-25% of the total.

In addition to the iPhone 14, which other models of the iPhone 14 series will use as the screen supplier? Screen analysis agency DSCC founder @Ross Young tweeted that among the four iPhone 14 series models, only the Apple iPhone 14 Pro uses a single-source screen (Samsung Display), and the other three models are from diversified suppliers.

He said that since LG Display has not yet mass-produced LTPO smartphone panels, and LTPO production is less than Samsung Display, Apple decided to use LG Display’s LTPO panels on steel blades, so they chose the larger and more expensive Pro Max.

Judging from previous revelations, the non-Pro version of the iPhone 14 model will continue to use the bangs design, while Apple uses a more recognizable punch-hole screen design on the more expensive iPhone Pro series.

According to reports, there will be no “iPhone 14 mini” this year, which means that the non-Pro and Pro series are both a 6.1-inch and a 6.7-inch model, which is expected to be the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Previously, The Elec released a supply chain report showing that two high-end models of Apple’s iPhone  14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will use punch-hole LTPO OLED display panels provided by Samsung and LG. Now, the former is exclusively provided by Samsung, while the latter is jointly supplied by Samsung Display and LG Display.

In addition, since it is reported that BOE has obtained an order for the screen of the iPhone 14, this model is also the model of the three suppliers, and the iPhone 14 Max is expected to still be the shared order of Samsung Display and LG Display.
