Global semiconductor sales in February rose by 32.4% year-on-year: SIA

According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) report, the global semiconductor industry sales in February 2022 were US$52.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32.4% from February 2021 and a month-on-month increase of 3.4% from January 2022.

“Global semiconductor sales remained strong in February, increasing by more than 20% year over year for the 11th consecutive month,” said John Neuffer, SIA President and CEO.

In terms of sales, China continued to lead all regional markets with $16.6 billion, followed by the Asia Pacific/all other regions ($15.9 billion), the Americas ($11.6 billion), Europe ($4.5 billion) U.S. dollars, Japan ($3.8 billion), the rankings remain unchanged from January 2022.

In terms of growth rate, the Americas grew by 43.2% year-on-year, the highest among all regional markets. The Asia Pacific/All other regions (41.4%), Europe (29.3%), China (21.8%), and Japan (21.6%) saw year-over-year growth.

Moreover, Asia Pacific/Other (18.6%) and Europe (1.4%) posted sequential growth, but sales declined slightly in Japan (-1.3%), China (-2.3%) and the Americas (-3.0%).
