Top 20 global pure electric vehicle sales companies in 2021: MarkLines

MarkLines, a global car information platform, released the global sales data of pure electric vehicles in 2021. There are 12 Chinese auto companies in the top 20. Tesla, SAIC, and Volkswagen are among the top three.

  • 1. Tesla (US): 936,000 vehicles (100% of its total sales)

  • 2. SAIC (China): 596,000 vehicles (21% of its total sales)

  • 3. Volkswagen Group (Germany): 452,000 vehicles (5% of its total sales)

  • 4. BYD (China): 320,000 units (43% of its total sales)

  • 5. Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi Alliance (Japan/France): 248,000 units (3% of its total sales)

  • 6. Hyundai Motor Group (South Korea): 223,000 vehicles (3% of its total sales)

  • 7. Stellantis Group (EU): 182,000 vehicles (3% of its total sales)

  • 8. Great Wall Motor (China): 135,000 (11% of its total sales)

  • 9. GAC Group (China): 120,000 units (29% of its total sales)

  • 10. Geely Holding Group (China): 110,000 vehicles (8% of its total sales)

  • 11. BMW Group (Germany): 110,000 vehicles (4% of its total sales)

  • 12. Mercedes-Benz Group (Germany): 99,000 (4% of its total sales)

  • 13. Chery Automobile (China): 98,000 units (10% of its total sales)

  • 14. Xiaopeng Motors (China): 98,000 units (100% of its total sales)

  • 15. Changan Automobile Group (China): 96,000 vehicles (4% of its total sales)

  • 16. NIO (China)1: 91,000 units (100% of its total sales)

  • 17. Dongfeng Motor Group (China): 71,000 vehicles (6% of its total sales)

  • 18. Hezhong New Energy (Nezha Automobile, China): 69,000 units (100% of its total sales)

  • 19. Ford Motor (U.S.): 55,000 (1% of its total sales)

  • 20. WM Motor (China): 44,000 units (100% of its total sales)

Moreover, in 2021 Tesla will produce a total of 930,422 vehicles and deliver 936,172 vehicles, of which:

  • 24,390 Model S and Model X models were produced and 24,964 were delivered;

  • Model 3 and Model Y production was 906,032 with deliveries of 911,208.

According to MarkLines, Tesla’s pure electric vehicle sales in 2021 will increase by 90% compared with the previous year, and by 2021, Tesla’s production and sales in China will exceed the United States. Overall, Tesla’s pure electric vehicles in 2021 will account for about 20% of total global pure electric vehicle sales.
