Android’s Emergency location services (ELS) are for users who are concerned about themselves and their loved ones. It allows you to set up an emergency response on your device that helps you to send your location in an emergency. Your device automatically sends location information when you contact a configured emergency number. This happens via a location request made to the Android Fused Location Provider (FLP). FLP allows us to derive a more accurate location as quickly as possible, using a variety of location signals. In this article, we will tell you how you can set up ELS on your Android device.

What is Android Emergency Location Service?
ELS is a tool available on Android devices that allows first responders to locate emergency callers and texters faster and with greater accuracy, using a combination of GPS, cell, Wi-Fi, and sensor data. It is partners with governments, mobile operators, and public safety vendors to launch ELS in a country or region. The partner is responsible for setting up and maintaining an endpoint that can receive ELS location information when a user contacts an emergency number.
How to set up ELS:
Step 1: Swipe down from the top of the screen.
Step 2: Touch and hold Location.
- If you don’t find the Location:

- Tap Edit or Settings.
- Drag Location into your Quick Settings.

Step 3: Tap Advanced and then Emergency Location Service.
Step 4: Turn Emergency Location Service on or off.
