Google’s Chrome dropping the support for some Intel and AMD processors

A friend who has an old-fashioned computer at home pays attention, and Google reminds that the Chrome browser is about to give up support for some platforms.

The affected processors are those that do not support SSE3 (Streaming SIMD Extensions) instruction sets, including Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64, etc. If they are forced to run, they will encounter errors or crashes.

According to Google,  from the analysis of the data is collected, the number of users affected by this change was very small.

Another thing to note is that it will take effect after Chrome 89 (currently the latest official version is Chrome 88).

As per the data, starting with Chrome 35 in May 2014, Google started to force SSE2 instruction set support, and now it is SSE3’s turn.
