Android 12: Take an early look at the redesigned user interface and new privacy features

As every year, Google is preparing to launch the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 12. Before the official announcement, Google began to work on the upcoming Developer Previews and Beta testing procedures for Android 12 later this month.

Moreover, Google also provides documentation and source code for custom skin development for major OEMs.

According to recent news, an early draft of the so-called document that Google prepared to show changes of Android 12 has leaked along with some screenshots of the user interface and system functions. At the same time, it is early to confirm the reliability of these claimed screenshots.

In the leaked Android 12 screenshots, one of them revealed an improved notification panel. Google has changed the transparent background to an opaque light beige background. The separation between the “conversation” part and the rest of the notifications does not seem to have changed, and the rounded corners of each notification are now more obvious.

In Android 12, the number of “Quick Settings” tiles has been reduced from 6 to 4. Compared with Android 11, the icons in this part have become larger. Furthermore, the date and clock positions have been swapped and a new privacy indicator is located in the upper right corner.

The newly added privacy indicator can be used to display a pop-up window at the top of the screen to show the user which applications are using the camera or microphone. On the other hand, the new “privacy” settings may include options to disable the camera and mute the microphone.

One of the so-called screenshots shows the new “conversation” widget in Android 12, which may highlight recently missed calls, messages, or activity status. In addition, according to reports, Google also plans to make “conversation widgets” a must-have feature for all Android 12 devices.

However, Google has not yet provided official information about its plans for the next generation of Android (i.e Android 12). We will notify you as soon as we receive new news about this matter until we keep in touch.
