Samsung Galaxy Watch could jump to One UI 8 Watch

Samsung Galaxy Watch fans might see a big change with the next software update. Instead of the expected One UI 7 Watch, Samsung could skip ahead to One UI 8 Watch. Right now, Galaxy Watches use One UI 6 Watch, which runs on Wear OS 5. Normally, the next update would be One UI 7 Watch, based on Wear OS 5.1, but a tip from X user IposDev hints that Samsung has other plans.
The goal is to keep the watch software in line with Samsung’s phone updates. One UI 8, powered by Android 16, is set to hit Galaxy phones soon. Matching the watch and phone software versions would make the devices work better together. This would be the first time Samsung skips a watch software version entirely.
For those waiting for Wear OS 5.1, built on Android 15, the wait might be longer. One UI 8 Watch, likely running on Wear OS 6, could launch with the Galaxy Watch 8 series around July 2025. Samsung may kick off beta testing for One UI 8 as early as next month, with a full release expected by August or September. The update promises exciting new health tools and a revamped look, giving Galaxy Watch users plenty to look forward to.
