New security feature coming to Samsung phones with One UI 8

Samsung Galaxy users might soon get a cool new tool to keep their phones safe with the One UI 8 update, which is based on Android 16. This tool, called Intrusion Detection, is being built by Google and was spotted in a test version of the Google Play Services app (version 25.18.31).

It’s designed to protect your phone by quietly keeping track of certain activities, like when new apps are installed, USB devices are plugged in, or Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are used. It can even log when someone tries to unlock your phone or check your browsing history.

If something fishy happens, you can look at this log to figure out what’s going on. This could be super helpful for people who handle sensitive information or worry about their phone getting hacked. The best part? The logs are locked tight with end-to-end encryption, so only you can see them.

This feature is likely tied to Android 16’s Advanced Protection Mode, meaning it’ll probably only come with One UI 8, not older versions. Samsung is expected to start testing One UI 8 in June 2025, with the Galaxy S25 likely being the first to try it out. Stay tuned for more updates as we learn what else this update will bring to keep your Galaxy phone secure and smooth
