The Samsung Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are the first phones to come with Android 15 and One UI 7 pre-installed. These models will be available globally starting February 7, and soon after, the One UI 7 update will roll out to older Samsung devices.
One UI 7 introduces several new features but also modifies some familiar operations. Here are three changes that might bother you, particularly if you’ve been using Samsung phones for a while, along with how to revert to the old ways:
Where’s the Quick Access Panel?
After updating to One UI 7, you might notice that the quick access buttons are no longer above your notifications. The quick access panel is now separate; you can access it by opening the notification panel and swiping from either side of the screen. Alternatively, swipe down from the top right corner. To bring back the combined panel, go to the quick access panel, tap the pencil icon, click on ‘Panel Settings’, and choose ‘Together’. Confirm by tapping ‘Done’.
Gemini Replaces Bixby
One UI 7 relies heavily on Google’s technology, including making Google Gemini the default digital assistant instead of Bixby. If you’re used to Bixby, you can change this back. Just go to your phone’s ‘Settings’, find ‘Advanced Features’, then ‘Side Button’, and under ‘Long Press’, select ‘Bixby’.
Vertical App Drawer
Responding to user feedback, Samsung has introduced a vertical scrolling option for the app drawer in One UI 7. This can make finding apps quicker with fewer swipes, but not everyone might like this change. To switch back to the horizontal layout, open the app drawer, hit the ‘More’ button by the search bar, choose ‘Sort’, and then ‘Custom Order’. This allows you to scroll through apps side to side again. Note, however, that alphabetical sorting is only available in the vertical view.
These changes might take some time, but with these simple steps, you can tailor One UI 7 to feel more like home.
