Samsung’s Galaxy phones have a rule for when the battery gets low. When it hits around 5%, the screen dims a lot, making it tough to see what you’re doing. But with the new One UI 7 update, you can now turn this dimming feature off.
Most Android phones have ways to save battery life. They start giving warnings when the battery hits about 20%, suggesting you turn on the battery-saver mode. On Samsung Galaxy phones, when the battery gets to 5%, the screen dims to save power for essential tasks. Although this saves some battery, it makes using the phone difficult.
With One UI 7, you can now find a new setting under ‘Settings’ > ‘Battery’ > ‘Auto dim screen.’ Here, you can switch off the auto-dim feature (as reported by SamMobile). This means you can keep your screen bright even when the battery is nearly gone, although it might drain the battery faster.
Samsung also says they’ve tweaked how power is handled in the Galaxy S25 series. Even though the battery size is the same as before, they’re promising better battery life. Getting to 5% battery is hard, and dimming the screen doesn’t help when you’re trying to use your phone.
One UI 7 will soon update Galaxy S24 devices. For the Galaxy S25 series, this update comes pre-installed, with pre-orders and shipments starting soon. This change will make a big difference for people who find the dim screen annoying at low battery levels.
