How to Blur Background while FaceTime [ Apple iOS 15.5]

Apple iOS 15.5 brings various improvements and enhancements to FaceTime.The update includes new visual and audio effects to polish up the FaceTime user’s experience.

The new visual function is Portrait mode in calls. This mode allows you to enable blur background. This mode has the power to faint your messy background and keeps the focus on you.

How to Blur your Background on a FaceTime call 

  1. Click on the FaceTime app and start a video call
  2. Tap on Control Center by diagonal swipe down from the upright corner of your smartphone
  3. Open the Video Effects button.
  4. Tap the Portrait button to allow it
  5. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to dismiss Control Center and back to the call.

You can even set the Portrait Mode in the middle of your FaceTime call in order to save yourself from the messy background.

How to set the Portrait Mode in Apple iOS 15.5

  1. Click your camera view thumbnail from the bottom corner of the Facetime session.
  2. Tap the portrait icon on the top left of the resulting view
  3. Now you will see that your background will get blurred immediately and the icon background turns white. You can get back to your camera view to a bottom thumbnail by just clicking the arrows at the top right.
