Transsion announced that its brand Infinix has released the world’s first light-painted leather technology. Users can experience smart color changes by irradiating the back cover of the mobile phone with ultraviolet light, and “draw” a personalized pattern by blocking the light.

According to reports, the light-painted leather technology is a reversible color-changing technology acting on ultraviolet rays. Infinix integrates a photochromic compound into leather, where under the action of UV light, the molecular structure changes rapidly, resulting in a color change. When the light is stopped, the color of the phone gradually returns to its original state.
Moreover, Transsion pointed out that, unlike electrochromic technology, Infinix’s light-painted leather is a passive color-changing technology that does not require additional energy from a smartphone to produce color changes. Users can create different patterns on the back cover by blocking the light in different shapes, providing the possibility of customizing the back cover.
