From 2020 to 2021, MCU chips will be mainly put into production, and mass production will begin in 2021, with an annual mass-production scale of about 10 million. In 2024, Midea can achieve mass production of automotive chips, which will be first used in the control of water pumps for new energy vehicles.

It is understood that in addition to Shanghai Meiren Semiconductor Company, Midea also established a chip company, Meiken Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd., on January 26, 2021. Its legal representative is Yin Bitong, with a registered capital of 200 million yuan.

Its business scope includes integrated circuit chips. And product manufacturing, integrated circuit chip, and product sales, power electronic components manufacturing, semiconductor discrete device manufacturing, emerging energy technology research and development, etc.

Moreover, Midea’s MCU is currently used in its own home appliances. In 2021, the global MCU industry will have a serious shortage of cores, especially high-end MCU chips used in automobiles.

According to industry insiders, Midea’s self-developed MCUs are entry-level products, which are different from automotive chips, which are mainly designed by foreign manufacturers.

Furthermore, Zhixi, Midea, Gree, Hisense, Haier, Galanz, TCL, Skyworth, Konka, Changhong, and other well-known home appliance brands have all established chip departments, established subsidiaries or invested in chip startups.
