Canon reveals a 18-inch 4K/HDR professional monitor

Canon Co., Ltd. released an 18-inch 4K/HDR professional monitor DP-V1830. The official said that the new product includes a high-quality display engine, high-precision algorithm, panel, and backlight. The core parts of the system have been upgraded, significantly improving the basic image quality performance.

Canon said that while meeting HDR specifications, this 18-inch monitor has a small and thin body, suitable for use in narrow spaces such as broadcast vehicles and sub-control rooms. Through multiple upgrades and at the same time meeting the 4K high-quality performance required by industry professionals, it also facilitates efficient work in multiple environments or multiple workflows.

In terms of parameters, this 18-inch monitor meets the HDR video production standards with a full white brightness of 1,000cd/㎡, a full black brightness of 0.001cd/㎡, and a high contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. At the same time, the DP-V1830 greatly improves the high image quality.

Moreover, the performance of the image engine and finer backlight control enables the display of clear, high-contrast images between different dark areas. These improvements, DP-V1830 have strengthened the black expressiveness that is critical in broadcast television and video production. Even in scenes where light and dark coexist such as night scenes and fireworks, the color gradation, deep blacks, and vivid bright colors can also be used.

Furthermore, DP-V1830 is equipped with a backlight system independently developed by Canon to maximize the performance of LEDs in terms of color and brightness, and faithfully restore the wide color gamut required by ITU-R BT.2020.

In addition, thanks to Canon’s own optical design, it can effectively suppress the brightness and color changes caused by the viewing angle, which can meet the simultaneous monitoring of multiple people and help accurately confirm the image.

Canon said that although the DP-V1830 is an 18-inch 4K/HDR high-brightness monitor, its body design is thin and light, and weighs only about 7.5 kg. It can also be installed on a 19-inch rack that meets EIA standards and is suitable for use in existing broadcast and video production work scenarios such as radio and television OB vans and sub-control rooms of radio and television stations.
