How to use detailed cycling routes in Apple Maps on iPhone?

With the iPhone’s iOS 14 update, Apple has also updated the Maps application to support cycling routes. This feature has been used in Google Maps for some time.

However, Apple has taken a step further by providing some features, including guiding users to use bicycle lanes or trails and avoiding busy roads or hills with toggle switches.

In this guide, we will show you step by step how to use Apple Maps cycling routes in iOS 14.

Use detailed cycling directions in Apple Maps:

Step 1: First, open Apple Maps on the iPhone.

Step 2: In the Apple Maps app, use the search bar to find the route.

Step 3: Now, click on the new bicycle icon to change the route type. If there is a cycling route available, you will see an overview of the altitude of the trip along with the distance and estimated travel time.

Step 4: Before starting the wizard, click on the altitude map/time estimate to view the route details.

Step 5: When you are ready to start, you can now click the “Start” button.

Please note that Apple Maps cycling routes are not available in all regions. It is already available in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Diego, Portland, and New York City. The company is currently working hard to promote it to more regions.
