Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp faces second downtime in a month

It was reported that Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp services had problems, and many users could not access them.

According to the information provided by DownDetector, the problem occurred after 5 pm Eastern time (5 am Beijing time today). By 5:08 pm, the DownDetector platform had received 23 reports that the Facebook service was interrupted.

By 5:23, the number of reports had increased to 18,120. This shows that the interruption is not accidental. Facebook is the parent company of Instagram and WhatsApp.

Some people received an error message from Facebook: “Sorry, something went wrong. We are working hard and hope to resolve it as soon as possible.”

At 5:04 pm Eastern time, the platform received 49 reports of Instagram failures, which increased to 10,330 by 5:19 pm. Instagram sent a message via Twitter: “Is there something wrong with your Instagram account? We know that some users are in trouble. We are working hard to resolve it and hope to restore it as soon as possible.”

After 6 pm Eastern time, Facebook and Instagram have been restored. A Facebook spokesperson responded: “Earlier today, a configuration change prevented some Facebook users from entering.

We quickly launched an investigation and resolved the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.” There were also problems with Facebook’s service last month when the company said it had “technical problems.”
