MediaTek will launch a new TV chip on March 3rd, focus on gaming experience and low latency

MediaTek’s TV chip technology communication and press conference will be held on March 3. MediaTek’s promo shows that this TV chip will focus on the gaming experience and has features such as low latency.

In October last year, MediaTek launched the MT9602 SoC for high-end smart TVs. The chip has more comprehensive functions and can realize a 4K HDR display.

The SoC has features like AI-PQ, AI-AQ, HDMI 2.1a support, global HDR, AV1, and AVS2 decoding support, and MediaTek stated it can improve the picture and audio quality for real-time video.

In 2019, MediaTek launched the flagship smart TV chip S900 that supports 8K video decoding and high-speed edge AI computing. The S900 chip uses ARM Cortex-A73 CPU and Mali G52 GPU supports 8K video decoding and HDR10 + standard.

On the I/O side, the S900 chip supports the HDMI2.1A interface, the bandwidth is increased to 48Gbps, and it supports HDR10+, 4K 120Hz, and 8K 60Hz video output.
