Google launches official version of Chrome OS 88, supports PIN and fingerprint two-step verification

Google released its own operating system, Chrome OS 88 version last week, which was officially pushed to users recently.

This update is the first major version update in 2021, bringing a faster login experience and a personalized lock screen interface to improve user experience.

Chrome OS 88 can now enable system PIN password or fingerprint recognition to log in to the website. This feature allows the system to store the account and password of a third-party website, and use Web Authentication ( WebAuthn ) to indirectly log in to the website.

In this way, users can avoid remembering complicated long passwords and log in to the website quickly. Currently, Dropbox, GitHub, Okta, and other websites support WebAuthn, and the login interface will automatically pop up when you visit the login page.

Additionally, the latest version of the system also supports PIN and fingerprint two-step verification, and you don’t have to worry about leaking your PIN and fingerprint information to third-party websites using this function.

The lock screen of the new version of Chrome OS 88 has also been greatly adjusted. Not only can the background image be customized, but the photos marked as ‘favorite’ in Google Album can also be displayed in the form of a slideshow, and the clock, weather, There is no need to unlock gadgets such as music being played to control media playback.

Additionally, the switching of virtual desktops is smoother and more responsive. Images and videos will be saved in a special “camera” folder for easy searching and sharing.
