Samsung is actively distributing its new exclusive One UI 3.0 skin based on Android 11, which brings a ton of new features. However, users are not happy with everything — they found one nasty surprise in One UI 3.0.
As noted by the thematic Dutch resource GalaxyClub.nl, One UI 3.0 lost a setting that allowed to hide the “bangs” and other types of cutouts and holes on the screen for the front camera.
Previously, this setting allowed part of the screen to be darkened, which not only created the feeling of a wide top border but also prevented applications from “flowing” over the camera area.
Apparently, this is not a mistake, but a completely deliberate change made by Samsung. In new user guides, mention of this setting has started to fade. For example, it disappeared in the tutorial for the Galaxy S20 running Android 11.
This is a rather controversial decision since the function was used not only on the flagship Galaxy S10 or S20 but also on super popular inexpensive models like the Galaxy A50.
