Galaxy Z Fold 6 gets a fresh app continuity trick with One UI 7

The One UI 7 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes with a cool new surprise. People trying out the One UI 7 beta can now use a feature called “Swipe to Continue” for App Continuity on their foldable phones. For those who own a Fold, App Continuity is a handy tool. It lets you keep using an app when you close your phone and switch from the big foldable screen to the smaller cover screen.
In the One UI 7 beta, Samsung added some fresh choices for App Continuity. One of these lets you swipe on the cover screen to keep using an app after folding the phone shut (spotted on Reddit).
The App Continuity settings now give you three simple options: “Always,” “Swipe to continue,” or “Never.”
When you pick “Swipe to continue,” something neat happens. After folding the phone, a swipe option pops up on the lock screen. If you don’t swipe, the phone stays locked. But if you do, you can keep going with your app on the cover screen. Before this, in One UI 6.1.1, there was an “All apps” switch to turn App Continuity on or off for everything.
What’s curious is that One UI 7 beta seems to have dropped the ability to turn App Continuity on or off for each app separately. The new “Swipe to continue” takes its place. It does pretty much the same job—letting you decide if you want to keep using an app when switching screens—but it works differently compared to the old switches.
The One UI 7 beta is rolling out now for Galaxy Z Fold 6 users in the USA and India. Soon, folks in the UK and Korea will get to test it, too. If you’re in one of these areas and want to try it, you can sign up for the One UI 7 beta through the Samsung Members app. Check out more details here.
