New AI search in Samsung Gallery exclusive to Galaxy S25

Samsung’s latest One UI 7 update brings an exciting new feature to the Galaxy S25 series: an AI-powered search in the Gallery app. This feature lets users find pictures by simply typing in everyday phrases or keywords, making photo searching much easier and more intuitive.
At the recent Unpacked event, Samsung showcased how this feature works exclusively on the new Galaxy S25 models. With this update, the Gallery app can understand natural language, so you can search for photos with phrases like “baby in a hat” or “my dog having a bath.”
The AI behind this feature analyzes images for various elements like people, pets, or scenes, and uses additional information like date and location to refine searches. This makes finding the right photo a breeze, even among thousands of images.
However, this advanced search capability is tied to the new hardware in the Galaxy S25. It relies on a modern processor with an enhanced Neural Processing Unit (NPU), meaning older models like the Galaxy S24 and S23 won’t be getting this feature with the One UI 7 update.
Sally, Samsung’s UX Head, mentioned that while many features from the S25 will make their way to older models, some like the AI Gallery Search require the latest hardware to function properly. This leaves fans of the older Galaxy phones hoping for other enhancements in the One UI 7 update to make up for this exclusion.
