What is Google Nest 12-minute timer bug? How to resolve it

Google Nest speakers and the Home app are dealing with a strange bug these days that restricts users from setting a 12-minute timer. Accordingly, when you try to do so and say the word twelve, Google takes it as 1-2 and will only put a 2-minute timer.

Several users shared this experience with this problem on Reddit and Google support forums. After trying 5 times, a user became so frustrated that he ended up commanding a timer for “11 and a half minutes”. Jokes apart, this has been troubling consumers for more than months and require a good fix.

How to resolve the Google Nest 12-minute timer bug?

While we have to wait for an official solution, users can try out the following ways to get a temporary fix of the problem:

  • Check the language of the Google Nest speaker
  • Try to set English US as the primary language
  • Force close the Google Home App
  • Reboot the Google Nest speaker device
  • Try to give it another command and then opt for the timer request
  • You can factory reset and troubleshooting method
