WhatsApp is readying a new feature namely Alternate Profile to level up the privacy segment in the application. As the term suggests, users will be able to set another display image on their accounts for unknown numbers or groups.
Consequently, the feature allows users to configure a different photo and name that will be visible to those contacts who cannot see their primary profile info. Meanwhile, those who are outside the contact list won’t be able to see your main picture but the one as the alternate option.
How to access the Alternate Profile feature in WhatsApp?
Currently, the feature is in the testing phase and only available to a handful of Android beta users via the Google Play Store with the 2.23.24.4 version. However, the company will initiate a stable rollout in the coming days. To access this capability:
- Open WhatsApp
- Click the three-dots menu at the top right corner
- Select Settings
- Tap on the Privacy Section > Profile Photo
Here you will find the Alternate Profile option under ‘Who can see my Profile Photo’. You can edit or manage the image via the pencil icon.
