OnePlus 10T phone may not come with physical mute slider switch

The OnePlus 10T mobile phone was previously announced to be released on August 3. This phone is actually the overseas version of the OnePlus Ace Pro phone. Today, OnePlus officially announced that the OnePlus Ace Pro new product launch conference will be held on August 3.

The overall design of the OnePlus 10T phone is similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, but this time there is no physical mute slider switch and no sign of any Hasselblad-branded camera system.

In fact, as early as May of this year, Li Jie, president of OnePlus China, said that the three-segment button will be retained on the digital series, while OnePlus Ace has canceled the brand’s iconic three-segment button (there is no mute button). Bring the “extreme experience” in performance and gaming on the Ace series.

The mute slider has been a staple of OnePlus’ flagship phones for years, offering a quick and easy way to put your phone in silent and vibrate mode without having to tap any on-screen menus.

According to The Verge, OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu said ditching the mute slider allows the OnePlus 10T to have enough interior space to accommodate other components needed for “high-power charging, large battery capacity, and better antenna signal,” which is a necessary practice.

In order to provide the fast charging speed of the OnePlus 10T (the specification has not been officially announced, but it is reported that it supports 150W fast charging), Hope Liu said that the OnePlus 10T contains two “charge pumps” inside, while the OnePlus 10 Pro compatible with 80W fast charging has only one. OnePlus also prioritized the antenna system, including 15 independent antennas inside the OnePlus 10T, which is said to improve the signal when the phone is held horizontally, suitable for gaming scenarios.

“Although the mute slider looks like a very small component, it actually has a considerable impact on the device’s motherboard area – taking up 30 mm²,” Hope Liu said. “To ensure that the OnePlus 10T serves the areas that users value the most… While retaining the mute slider, we had to stack the device’s motherboard, which would make the device thicker.” The removal of the slider was made by the OnePlus Compromise decision.

Another difference compared to the OnePlus 10 Pro is that the OnePlus 10T lacks a Hasselblad-branded camera system. The collaboration between OnePlus and camera company Hasselblad started with the OnePlus 9 Pro and mainly involved adjusting the color of the camera. This year, the system added new features, such as support for 12-bit RAW photos.

Why not use the Hasselblad camera brand? Hope Liu said that OnePlus “hopes to provide a flagship smartphone with an extreme performance at the price point of the device choice.” Liu also confirmed that the OnePlus 10 T’s main camera will use a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor and will support 10-bit color shooting, as well as “improved” HDR Photography” and Night Photography modes.

Moreover, the OnePlus 10T phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor and features a 6.7-inch display that will be available in matte black and bright green.
