Indian smartphone market increased 2% in Q1 2022: Canalys

Canalys’ latest report shows that in the first quarter of 2022, India’s smartphone shipments were 38 million units, an increase of only 2% year on year, as top manufacturers suffered from intermittent supply shortages.

Moreover, the report pointed out that although Xiaomi suffered a month-on-month decline, it still ranked first with a shipment of 8 million units. Samsung ranked second with 6.9 million units shipped.

In addition, realme had the strongest growth among the top five manufacturers, with shipments up 40% year-on-year to 6 million units. Vivo and OPPO rounded out the top five with shipments of 5.7 million and 4.6 million units, respectively.
