Apple Music adds spatial audio support for DJ Mixes

According to the latest report, Apple today announced the use of Dolby Atmos on Apple Music to support DJ mixes in spatial audio. Apple says the introduction of DJ mixes in spatial audio brings listeners an immersive audio experience with “multi-dimensional sound and clarity.”

Moreover, the company added that spatial audio is the “natural next step” in Apple Music’s commitment to sound and DJ mixes following the launch of a Shazam-based project that recognizes and compensates all individual creators involved in producing DJ mixes.

“The response to spatial audio from subscribers and creators has been incredible, and we’re excited to expand this sonic innovation,” Stephen Campbell, Apple Music’s global head of dance and electronic music, said in a statement.

Detroit-based DJ and producer Jeff Mills headlines DJ mixes in Spatial Audio, featuring an exclusive mix of “Outside-In Vibes: Escape Velocity Remix,” also officially relaunched introduced Apple Music’s One Mix series, showcasing the world’s top DJs and producers.

As part of the announcement, Apple is adding new DJ mixes every month, and Apple Music has also debuted 15 “Boiler Room” mixes, captured for the first time as spatial audio at nightclubs, festivals and raves, additional collections of spatial audio sessions will be released throughout the year.
