Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a recent interview that the company has held talks with SpaceX’s broadband arm, Starlink, and conducted exploratory tests of Starlink’s technology, but has not released any details. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved SpaceX to test Starlink satellites for aircraft, documents show.

For the past few years, Musk’s SpaceX has been building Starlink satellites and selling broadband services to businesses and consumers. Musk said in a tweet last year that he was working on getting Boeing and Airbus planes certified. “Because these planes serve the most people.”

Moreover, analysts predict that the demand for Wi-Fi among airline passengers will continue to grow. The number of connected planes will more than double to 20,000 by 2030, according to Euroconsult, a consultancy focused on the satellite industry.
