According to the latest report, the South Korean company Jahwa Electronics announced that it will invest 191 billion won to build a factory to produce new OIS optical stabilizer devices. Apple happened to visit Korean companies such as Jahwa Electronics in the first half of last year, and the industry said that Apple was looking for a periscope lens supplier.

A new report from TheElec states that Jahwa will supply LG Innotek with OIS optical stabilizer devices fabricated in these new facilities, replacing previous suppliers Aps Alpine and Mizumi.
Sources close to the matter claim that Jahwa’s OIS patent does a good job of creating foldable zoom technology. The technology allows periscope camera systems to use prisms to fold light that enters the image sensor, enabling the creation of smaller camera modules that increase the iPhone‘s optical zoom range.
Moreover, TheElec also said that Jahwa is working with Samsung and Samsung Electro-Mechanics on the development of ball rail actuators. “Balls move the lens barrel differently than Apple’s current approach using springs.” The ball-guided approach provides more precise control than the spring approach and helps support larger image sensors with higher resolutions and more lenses.
Since 2019, Apple has been meeting with South Korean companies to develop its camera modules. Apple analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu have previously stated that Apple’s 2023 iPhone 15 Pro series will be equipped with a periscope camera, and Apple has already applied for a patent for its periscope camera system.
