Apple’s AirTag trademark review refused

Recently, the review decision on Apple’s refusal of the “AIRTAG” trademark No. 55372085 was released. The document shows that Apple, the applicant, was not satisfied with the rejection of its website service “AIRTAG” trademark by the Intellectual Property Office and applied for a re-examination.

Moreover, the review held that the application trademark and the cited trademark word “AirAG” were similar in letter composition, calling, etc., and constituted similar trademarks, and the review services such as the design and development of computer software designated for the application trademark.

Furthermore, some of the services approved and used by the cited trademark belonged to the same or similar services, the coexistence of the two trademarks will easily lead to confusion and misunderstanding of the source of the service by the relevant public. Ultimately, the application for registration of the trademark on the review service was rejected.
