Hundreds of fake Zelensky scammers on social media: Cybersecurity

According to the latest report, more than 200 “actors  posing as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky were “active” on social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Telegram.

Moreover, these “actors” used Zelensky’s image, name, and “brand” to lure users into sending them money. This phenomenon has become the latest drama on social media to exploit the Russian-Ukrainian crisis for money.

“Since the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, we have seen a rapid increase in fake Zelensky profiles,” said Yoav Keren, CEO of cybersecurity firm BrandShield. “In a recent scan, we found 45 people on Facebook, 39 people on Twitter, 20 people on Instagram, 22 people on Telegram, and 155 people on Russian social platform VK posing as Zelensky.”
