Hyundai Motor, Kia and Baidu Apollo formally reached a strategic cooperation on GEN1 China OEM platform

As reported, Hyundai Motor’s official news, during the 19th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, Hyundai Motor·Kia and Baidu Apollo formally reached strategic cooperation on the GEN1 China OEM platform & brand cooperation.

The two parties will further utilize their respective advantages, accelerate the development and application of cooperation in the intelligent upgrade of automobiles and the digital transformation of brands, and promote the landing of new products based on the GEN1 China OEM platform.


The Kia Smart Run Ace mass-produced car that will be unveiled at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show will be the first to be equipped with the GEN1 China OEM platform. In the future, Hyundai Motor·Kia will launch more new mass-produced models equipped with the latest smart in-vehicle interconnection system.

Along with this, Hyundai Motor, Kia and Baidu Apollo will actively promote in-depth cooperation between the two parties in the fields of cloud, autonomous driving, and safety. Hyundai Motor Group established a cooperative relationship with Baidu, and in the next 7 years.

It has reached a number of cooperation expansion agreements to jointly launch a smart car linkage for Hyundai Motor Group’s models. platform. In 2015, Hyundai Motor·Kia cooperated with Baidu to take the lead in putting the “Baidu CarLife”, an intelligent interconnection product for in-vehicle mobile phones, on Hyundai Motor, Kia’s models in the Chinese market.

“Baidu CarLife” can connect smartphones with vehicles, and customers can easily use navigation systems, phone calls, text messages, music, and other functions by using the in-car display.

After that, the smartphone navigation system “Baidu Maputo”, the conversational voice recognition system “DuerOS Auto”, Baidu Intelligent Networking 3.0, BlueLink remote control and other leading in-vehicle intelligent interconnection functions have taken the lead in Hyundai Motor·Kia’s model’s application.
