The current Apple Macbook only supports a few GPUs on the market, and even only Mac Pro provides a PCIe slot for graphics card installation.

The Intel-based MacBook and Thunderbolt 3 interface models can be connected to an external docking station and eGPU.

In macOS Big Sur 11.4 Beta1, Apple state that they added support for AMD’s three new GPUs. The new cards listed on the AMD Navi RDNA2 architecture are the 6800, 6800XT, and 6900XT series.

The external graphics card is limited to the Intel version, and the M1 Mac may not be able to support it for a long time. Although the future M series processors may add eGPU support, we still don’t know what Apple plans.
