On April 08, 2021, Verizon and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission jointly issued a recall announcement. Among them, 2.5 million Ellipsis Jetpack mobile wireless hotspots (Mi-Fi) are involved.

The reason is that these terminal devices have built-in lithium-ion batteries that pose a risk of overheating and fire. As part of the mitigation measures, the company has released updated patches that reduce the risk of overheating, and will also provide consumers with free replacement devices.
The US CPSC pointed out: The number of affected devices is as many as 2.5 million, and the exact models include MHS900L, MHS900LS, and MHS900LPP.
Verizon said in a statement that the company is taking this matter very seriously and will work with suppliers to confirm the cause of the problem and provide free equipment replacement services to all customers.
If your device happens to be within the scope of this recall, you can communicate with Verizon about the replacement. If you do not decide to replace it temporarily, please turn off the power when you don’t need it, and then place it on a flat surface, away from water sources or withstand extreme temperatures.
