Volkswagen begun to deliver ID.4 electric vehicles in United States

Volkswagen has started to deliver ID.4 electric vehicles in the United States. According to previous news, the domestic market is expected to be listed and delivered on March 20, starting at 199.99 million yuan.

Since preparing to deliver ID.4 in the United States more than two years ago, Volkswagen has established a network of more than 600 dealers in the United States. As part of the preparations, the company installed level 2 charging stations and appropriate car lifts at many Volkswagen dealers.

In September 2019, Volkswagen demonstrated the ID.4 for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This car is the second mass-produced model in the company’s electric car series and the first ID electric car to enter the US market.

ID.4 is based on the ID CROZZ concept car, and the size seems to be similar to Tesla’s Model Y. Under the WLTP standard, this car has a cruising range of 500 kilometers, but in the real world, the cruising range of this car is expected to be shorter.

Since ID.3 is only for the European market, ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first electric vehicle based on the MEB platform launched by Volkswagen. Volkswagen has been reorganizing its huge business in order to free up funds for the development of battery and software capabilities, and the company plans to build the industry’s largest fleet of electric vehicles.

Volkswagen is completely developing electric vehicles. Last Sunday, sources within the company said that the company plans to lay off as many as 4,000 employees in Germany to save money on the transition to electric vehicles.

Additionally, Volkswagen intends to build six large battery factories in Europe by 2030 to increase battery production and accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. These factories will all be put into operation before 2030, and the annual production capacity of each factory will reach 40GWh.

The company stated that this year’s goal is to deliver 1 million electric vehicles and become the leader in the global electric vehicle market by 2025 at the latest.
