Microsoft’s Windows 10 has become the most installed OS system at present. For individual consumers, there are mainly two choices of Home version and Pro version, with little difference in functionality.
According to Microsoft’s official explanation, the Win10 Pro version compared to the Home version of the main multi-enterprise version of Windows Hello, integration with Microsoft information protection, BitLocker and BitLocker to Go and other functions, but these functions are less than a lot of people, not even Noted.
There are subtle differences in functions, is there any difference in performance. On this issue, there are really two opinions on the Internet. One is that the Pro version is more powerful, and the other is that the Home version is more powerful because it has the least functions and occupies the lowest resources, so it is more conducive to performance, especially It is on the low-end hardware platform.
Is this actually the case, The Overclocks website did a test on this, they did not choose a real machine, but used a virtual machine to verify it, simulating the situation of Ryzen 5 1600 processor, 4GB memory, and 60GB HDD space.
On the Win10 Home version, it takes 19 seconds to boot up, 125 program processes are loaded under the desktop, and the memory occupied is about 1.6GB, and the hard disk space occupied by the system is 18GB.
As for the Win10 Pro version, it takes 19 seconds to boot up, and the number of processes is 130, which is 5 more. However, the processor load has no effect. It takes up 1.7GB of memory and 18.2GB of disk space, which is 200MB more than the Home version. It’s not a big deal either.
In short, through this test, the hardware consumption of Win10 Home and Pro versions are basically similar even on low-end PCs, and there is no obvious difference in performance. Both versions can be used.
