Microsoft is preparing to expand Win10X to more devices

According to the Windows latest report, people familiar with the matter said that Microsoft is providing ‘more form factor’ support to Windows 10X.

On the other side, Microsoft is exploring the possibility of running Windows 10X (modular OS) on ARM-based laptops and other products in the near future.

Well known, Windows 10 can run on multiple products using Intel, AMD, and ARM processors for many years. Windows 10X started in October 2019.

Microsoft said that considering potential compatibility issues and simulation issues of the ARM architecture, they decided to limit the system to run on Intel chip systems.

And now, Microsoft has begun to test its Windows 10X hardware internally, which indicates that we may see some ARM-based Windows 10X devices from Microsoft partners later this year.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft plans to launch devices running Windows 10X before 2022.

However, Windows 10X is not necessarily suitable for everyone, and Microsoft’s strategy is similar to Windows RT.

In other words, Win10X will not support Web applications (PWA) and UWP applications provided through the Microsoft Store at all.

Additionally, Win10X does not support local user accounts and advanced tools, such as a control panel and registry editor.

Fortunately, Win10X will be Microsoft’s first operating system pre-installed with Web applications, such as desktop programs such as Mail and Office, so it can become lighter and faster.
