Galaxy Watch 4 gets a fresh update with stronger security

Galaxy Watch 4

Samsung has released a major software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, boosting security and improving performance. The update includes the March 2025 security patch, fixing 51 vulnerabilities to ensure your smartwatch stays protected.

Carrying firmware version R8x0XXU1IYCD, this update is a substantial 444.47MB download. Samsung’s notes highlight bug fixes, enhanced stability, and security upgrades, but the large file size hints at other unlisted improvements. It’s currently rolling out in India, with more regions expected to get it soon.

To install the update, launch the Galaxy Wearable app on your connected phone, navigate to Watch Settings, choose Watch Software Update, and select Download and Install. While the March 2025 patch is solid, some users might have hoped for the newer May 2025 patch due to the update’s timing.

Rumors suggest a possible Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch update could be in the works, potentially the last big upgrade for the Galaxy Watch 4 series. However, Samsung hasn’t confirmed this, as it depends on testing for reliability. This update underlines Samsung’s dedication to keeping the Galaxy Watch 4, released nearly four years ago with Wear OS, running smoothly and securely. Update your watch to enjoy a safer, more reliable experience.
