Samsung’s One UI 7 Update: New features and user concerns

Samsung’s One UI 7, based on Android 15, is rolling out to Galaxy devices, bringing fresh features but also some user frustrations. The update, which started in April 2025, includes a cleaner design, smoother animations, and improved Galaxy AI tools like call transcription and writing assistance.
A new “Now Bar” on the lock screen shows real-time updates, such as music or workout stats, making it easier to stay informed without unlocking the phone. Additionally, VoLTE is now enabled by default, ensuring clearer calls over 4G and 5G networks, which is a handy upgrade for users in supported regions. However, some Galaxy S24 Ultra users are annoyed by a status bar glitch after the April 2025 security patch.
During calls, icons like battery and network signals appear twice, creating a messy look on the call and home screens. This bug, reported by a few users, doesn’t affect performance but is hard to ignore. Samsung hasn’t addressed it yet, but a fix is expected soon.
Restarting the phone or changing themes might help temporarily. In May 2025, more devices will get One UI 7, including the Galaxy S23, S22, S21 series, Z Fold 4/5, Z Flip 4/5, and Tab S9/S8. Mid-range models like the Galaxy A54 and A34 are also on the list. While the update promises a better experience, some users worry about bugs based on past rollout issues. To check for the update, go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Stay tuned for Samsung’s fixes and wider rollout.
