One UI 7 brings easy media control from always-on display

Samsung’s latest One UI 7 update, built on Android 15, makes using your Galaxy phone or tablet even better with a cool new feature: controlling music or videos right from the Always-On Display (AOD). This means you can pause, play, or skip tracks without unlocking your device, saving time and keeping things simple.
The update also introduces the Now Bar, a handy pill-shaped tool that shows notifications and media controls on the AOD, lock screen, and status bar. If you don’t like the Now Bar on the AOD, you can turn it off in the settings while keeping it active elsewhere.
Beyond media control, One UI 7 offers a fresh look with smoother animations and smarter Galaxy AI features like call transcripts and a writing assistant. It’s rolling out to many Galaxy devices, including the S24, S23, S22, Z Fold, and Z Flip series, as well as tablets like the Tab S8. For users in Chile, Samsung shared a roadmap showing flagship models like the Galaxy S24 and Z Fold 6 getting the update in May 2025, with others following by August.
The update also enables VoLTE calls by default for clearer calls on 4G and 5G networks. While most users love the new features, some report minor issues like battery drain or lag on mid-range devices. If you’re facing problems, you can share feedback through Samsung’s social media or Members app to help improve the experience.
