Samsung speeds up One UI 8 for Galaxy S25 and One UI 7 reaches older phones
Samsung is working hard to bring Android 16 and One UI 8 to its upcoming Galaxy S25 series, expected to launch in January 2026. The company is already testing early versions of this software to ensure it’s ready on time. One UI 8 will likely introduce smoother animations, better app designs, and new AI features, including a possible Vision AI upgrade to make the phone smarter and more helpful. At the same time, Samsung is rolling out One UI 7, based on Android 15, to older devices like the Galaxy S24, S23, S22, and Z Fold/Flip series. This update brings a modern look with a vertical app drawer, updated icons, and improved AI tools like Audio Eraser for clearer videos. It also includes the April 2025 security patch for better protection. The rollout started in April 2025 in places like South Korea, the US, and Europe, but some delays happened due to bugs, which Samsung quickly fixed.
By July 2025, Samsung plans to launch One UI 8 with its new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, possibly before Google’s Pixel 10 series. This shows Samsung’s effort to stay ahead in the smartphone race. Older devices, like the Galaxy S24 and S23, may get One UI 8 later in August or September 2025, with beta testing starting in June.
