Samsung’s unusual Galaxy Watch plan hides a tough truth

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra

Samsung has taken a strange path with its Galaxy Watch lineup. While it might seem clever, it’s covering up a bigger issue. In 2024, Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Then, it brought back the Galaxy Watch FE series and plans to launch a Galaxy Watch 7 and a Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra.

At first, this mix of models may look like Samsung is giving more choices to buyers. But in reality, this move could be Samsung’s way of hiding the fact that the smartwatch market is slowing down. Instead of releasing one strong model, Samsung is now putting out multiple watches that only slightly differ from each other.

The new Galaxy Watch FE might not even be that new. It’s expected to be a rebranded version of the Galaxy Watch 4, launched back in 2021. This could confuse buyers, especially if older hardware is being sold under a new name.

With the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra, Samsung may be trying to compete with Apple’s Ultra Watch. But again, releasing many models won’t matter if there’s no major innovation. The company needs to focus on delivering real upgrades instead of reusing old designs and calling them new.

In short, Samsung’s watch strategy looks smart on the surface, but underneath, it shows a market that’s struggling to grow.
