With the Galaxy S25 now in the hands of customers, Samsung has turned its attention to the software development for its next flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The first piece of software for this new device has been found on Samsung’s servers.

New Software for Galaxy Z Fold 7 Spotted

The software for the US version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (model SM-F966U) has been seen on Samsung’s servers. This version, tagged as F966USQU0AYB3, is likely to run on Android 15 with One UI 7.x. In the past, Samsung has released its foldable phones with a version like One UI x.1.1, but there’s talk that this year might be different. Due to delays with the One UI 7.0 rollout for existing models, Samsung might opt to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its sibling, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, with One UI 7.0.1.

What’s New with the Galaxy Z Fold 7?

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will sport screen sizes similar to those of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which means larger displays – a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch main foldable screen, with minimal visible creasing. However, it might not include S Pen support.

The device is expected to be slim at about 10mm thick, house a hefty 4,400mAh battery with 45W fast charging capabilities, and boast a triple camera setup with a 200MP primary sensor, an ultrawide, and a telephoto lens for versatile photography.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, ensuring top-notch performance, with at least 16GB of RAM and storage starting at 256GB. It’s also anticipated to keep the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, have stereo speakers, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, much like its predecessor. This new iteration from Samsung promises to blend cutting-edge technology with user-friendly design, aiming to set a new standard in the foldable smartphone market.
