Samsung might skip One UI 7.1 due to update delays

It’s February 2025, and Samsung is still ironing out the kinks in the One UI 7 Beta for the Galaxy S24 series. With several more beta updates expected, it seems like the release of One UI 7.0 is taking longer than planned. This delay could mean we won’t see One UI 7.1.1, with Samsung possibly jumping straight to One UI 7.0.1.
Rumors are swirling that the new foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, will debut with One UI 7.0.1 instead of the expected One UI 7.1 or 7.1.1. This shift in strategy could mean that this year, we won’t see the usual updates that come with Samsung’s S series and foldable lineups.
The stable version of One UI 7 might not hit our devices until April 2025, after three more beta releases, delaying the update by nearly three months from the typical schedule. This has left some flagship phone owners, who bought their devices for the latest software, feeling let down.
Because of these setbacks, there’s talk that Samsung might forgo the One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 updates altogether, opting instead for One UI 7.0.1 with the new foldables.
Disclaimer: Keep in mind, this is all based on rumors and not confirmed by Samsung. Tech specs and company plans can change, so take this with a grain of salt.
The delay in rolling out One UI 7.0 has thrown a wrench in Samsung’s usual update cycle. Originally planned, One UI 7.1 seems to have been scrapped, with One UI 7.1.1 potentially following suit. The focus now appears to be on getting One UI 7.0.1 ready for the new foldables.
Samsung has been slower than usual with One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S24, and despite starting the Beta Program in early December, they’re still fixing issues. This might lead to skipping One UI 7.1 entirely.
The stable One UI 7.0 update is now speculated to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy S25 Edge in April, suggesting that S24 users could see this update around the same time.
These changes hint at a longer wait for the latest software, but Samsung is reportedly planning to include some exciting features from the Galaxy S25 series in this update, focusing on better animations and performance.
