What is Apple Safari 17 ‘Add to Dock’ feature? How to use it

Apple recently released the Safari 17 version which contains an interesting Add to Dock feature. Surprisingly, this capability can turn your favorite site into a standalone Mac app, without the requirement of any additional software.

Eventually, it gives you relief from opening a frequently used website again and again on your browser. All you have to do is, click on the new Dock icon and it will lead you directly to the website, without going to the browser. The feature already exists in the macOS Sonoma upgrade which has the in-built Safari 17 version.

How to use Apple Safari 17 ‘Add to Dock’ feature?

  • Install Safari 17.0 version on your Apple Mac
  • Open the browser and go to the website you want to turn into an app
  • Select the File option from the Menu Bar
  • Click Add to Dock
  • Type a name for the new Dock icon
  • Confirm the name and icon

This works effectively for several websites and services, and the formed app can even request to send notifications, just like actual Mac apps.
