Android 14 beta users might face issues with new Google Messages update

Android 14 beta has made its way to Google Pixel devices with a bunch of new features. However, it would be better if you skip the latest Google Messages update as it is bringing some additional issues to your Android 14 beta running handset.

The story outline begins when Google pushed a new beta build for the Messages application. Released with the 20230428_01_RCoo version, the firmware results in constant app crashing. Further, it restricts opening the app if you have enabled the light theme on your Pixel phone.

Adding more, the app will open up with a dark system theme to bring your latest conversation to the light. Though a tap on any of the chats will again crash the app immediately. Meanwhile, the entire background of the app appears in a nasty gray look which makes it difficult to read the text.

Notably, the Google Messages issues are mainly taking place on Pixel 7 Pro running on the Android 14 beta build. Whereas, other Pixel phone with the Android 13 operating system does not showcase any such trouble on the surface.

Android 14 Google Messages issues

Undoubtedly, the tech maker will release a new update for the Google Messages to address the respective defect. Till then, those who are stuck with the version can opt for a simple solution.

Eventually, you have to long-press the Messages icon on your phone’s home screen and visit the App Info. Ahead, click on the overflow menu in the top-right corner to ‘Uninstall Updates’.

By doing so, the app will be usable again. Though the older release may come along with initial issues, you can leave the app’s beta and then download the stable release from the Google Play Store.
