Compared with the Snapdragon 888 chip, the graphics and image rendering speed of the Adreno GPU built into the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip will increase by 30%, and the energy efficiency will increase by 25%. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip also uses the Snapdragon X65 modem for the first time, which is compatible with all 5G network segments and supports a maximum transmission speed of up to 10Gbps.

In addition to performance improvements, the Snapdragon Sight Snapdragon imaging technology adopted by the new generation of Snapdragon 8 mobile platforms includes the first 18-bit ISP specifically designed for smartphones and is also the first mobile platform that supports 8K HDR video shooting, and can shoot in the top HDR10+ format with more than 1 billion colors.

Qualcomm also announced at the press conference that it will cooperate with Sony Sensors to establish a joint laboratory to promote the development of mobile imaging. Qualcomm said that the joint experiment will provide optimization for equipment developed based on the Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, and improve image quality in a short time.

Moreover, Qualcomm and Sony will also test the latest imaging technology heat at the same time, Sony Sensor cooperation, customized image sensors for the Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, and improved imaging capabilities.

Qualcomm said that more than a dozen mobile phone manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Sony, and Honor, have signed up to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, and the first batch of phones equipped with the new chip is expected to be available before the end of this year.
