Apple’s foundry Pegatron will build a factory in Texas to provide parts for electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla. The company said that the investment details of its overseas factories, including time, location, and investment amount, are still in the planning stage.

Pegatron produces a variety of automotive parts, including wireless communication modules, ECUs (electronic control units), automotive panels, wiring harnesses, structural parts, voltage transformers, and charging piles.

The company has become a supplier of Tesla electronic control units and home charging stations, and a supplier of onboard tablet computers for Audi and Toyota vehicles. In addition, the company is also an important partner of Apple, helping Apple assemble iPhone and iPad.

In December last year, sources in the upstream supply chain said that in the fourth quarter of last year, Pegatron received an increase in orders for the Tesla Model 3 central control system.

At that time, the source also said that Pegatron was exploring building a factory in the United States to better serve Tesla’s supply chain needs, which further showed that Tesla is preparing for its brilliant performance in 2021.

As more and more electric vehicle competitors enter the market and the global demand for electric vehicles and batteries accelerates, Tesla plans to substantially increase production and deliveries in 2021.

Tesla’s goal may be to produce and deliver 1 million cars in 2021, a large part of which may be Model 3 and its sibling Model Y.
